On my Apple Card, I had fraud it was confirmed but the charge reappears every month

Hello Community

Since Sept when I was victim of a scam fraud I have been charged by Goldman Sachs. They took police reports and report from Apple and gave me a temp credit but every month since sept they reverse the credit and put charges back on my card. Apple says they have confirmed it was a scammed fraud and told GS but in spite of Police report and Apple providing evidence charges are not valid Goldman Sachs continues to do this every month since Sept. I am a senior and who knows how long I will be on this earth. I don't want to spend every month I have remaining fighting this issue. Anyone know how I can stop this vicious activity?

Verify and attempt to stop automatic/preauthorized payments and the request a new virtual card number.

First Access you Apple Card from the wallet app then follow the steps below:

Top right corner click on the 3 dots —> Card Details —> half way down you’ll see Preauthorized Merchants.

  • Go through the list and make sure they’re ones you have signed up for. You can tap on the merchant for more info. You should also see an option to request to revoke preauthorized payments from here.

**If you see scam charge call Apple Card Support 877-255-5923 OR click call from within the Apple card details. Let them know what monthly charge it is.

  • When done, scroll up to Card Information —> Request New Card Number. This will immediately give you a new virtual card number and render your previous one useless for online purchases (excluding preauthorized payments. Which is why you have to revoke access)

I also suggest changing your Apple sign in password (you’ve probably heard this). But use a phrase/sentence instead of a word. kind of a pain to enter but it’s harder to hack something like “The y3llow d0g jump$ 0v3r the b!g m0on?” (no spaces). Phrases can be easier for you to remember but harder to hack.

OK, your reporting to credit card company is within the time limit to report fraud on your account. Did the police tell you it was fraud or not? Not all unidentified charges are fraud and that may be the reasoning of the bank and reason for denial. But banks are generally liable for fraudulent charges over $50 if reported within the allowed time frame. So, the real question is, was it fraud?

One of the most common confusions is when the account holder gives the card, iphone etc. to someone for their use. This is prohibited by the terms and conditions and stated as such.

>>PROTECTING YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION, CREDENTIALS, AND ELIGIBLE DEVICES

You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of any Cards, Eligible Devices and their passcodes, Apple IDs, and any other authentication credentials used in connection with your Account (collectively, "Credentials"). If you authorize or allow anyone else to use your Account (e.g., by providing your physical Card or the passcode to your Eligible Device, allowing a third party to set up Face ID or add their fingerprint to use Touch ID, authorizing a Participant to use your Account, or otherwise providing any of your Credentials to a third party), the person may be able to make Transactions using your Account, and you will be liable for all Transactions made on your Account by that person.<<

You have several options at this point. You can go into arbitration with GS and let a neutral party decide. You can file a complaint with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). This issue will be resolved in about 30 days. I linked to their online complaint form below. Much beyond the above, there may not be much more recourse for you.
