iPhone 12 just refused to charge either with USB charging cable or wireless. How to get it to charge?

This just started 2 days ago, when phone wouldn’t charge wirelessly.

Then, it was fussy about which cable it would charge with (USB cable that came with it - undamaged, plugged into wall receptacle).

It suddenly drained down to almost nothing.

I plugged it in.

No change.

What options do I have?

I bought this phone in February 2021. Just over 3 years old.

iPhone 12 Pro.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2)  If the above does not work then - You may have a poor battery condition which cannot provide sufficient power for peak performance. What is the Battery Health of your iPhone? Open Settings  Battery  Battery Health and let us know which percentage you see for Maximum Capacity. Also note what is written under Peak Performance. If your battery's Maximum Capacity shows a value of 80% or less, then it has gone through its lifecycle and therefore should be replaced, according to Apple.

(3)  If that does not help and your Battery Health is fine, then review this article published by Apple 👉 If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

Troubleshoot the iPhone Power:

It may be a hardware issue, in which case you'd set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. ** before making that assertion, try the following...
