What is zero day virus that can hack my iPhone?

Is my iPhone safe , traveling overseas today and was warned about a zero day virus that can hack my phone? Is this real? Do I need to turn off messages?

It is not real. But it’s sort of like trying to prove a negative. By definition, a zero day vulnerability means one that was not detected before it happened for the first time. So anyone can claim there are zero day vulnerabilities, and it is impossible to refute the claim because if an infection happened it would not fit the definition of a zero day event. As an extreme example, prove my claim today that the sun will not come up tomorrow.
