The only way I can see the captions for the Fremen speech in this movie on my Apple TV is to turn on ALL English captions for all the movie’s dialogue. The Automatic captions setting, which I’d expect to show me just captions for the Fremen speech, shows no captions at all. Was I wrong to expect this … or perhaps it is working for others?

I may have figured this out, but if so, it is still a bug. I commonly use the Siri command “what did he say” with my Apple TV when I am unable to understand movie dialogue. Well, as soon as I do that, the automatic captions on this movie (and perhaps others) stop working, and even deselecting and reselecting them won’t make them work again. The only thing I’ve found to work is to shut down and then restart the Apple TV … only then do the automatic captions on this movie begin appearing again.

I’m not on an Apple TV just using the app on a smart tv. Same problem. I always have captions on though and don’t use Siri so I’m not sure why it happened. I signed out of Apple and signed back in and it resolved the problem.
It would seem Apple have not have factored in subtitles for extra-terrestrial languages.
Power cycling my Apple TV box made no difference. Much of the film is simply missing, labelled: 'speaking in Chakobsa'.
$32 was debited very elegantly though.
Apple doesn’t provide subtitles or alternative voice tracks.
Those are provided by the Film maker.
Helpful to know. Question would seem to be taking responsibility for selling an incomplete film ? It seems likely the film makers can furnish this content as they have for theatre release. Quality would simply need to be audited then updated by Apple ?.
