I am unable to unlock Schlage Encode Plus with my Apple Watch

I have a Schlage Encode Plus updated with the latest firmware that I can open with my phone but not my watch. Both the phone and watch are updated. The home key shows up in the wallet and express mode is enabled on both devices. When I hold the watch to the lock it says done, but doesn’t unlock. I have repaired the watch and also reset the lock. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

I bit the bullet and bought Apple TV 4K 3rd gen 128GB model, reset the lock and added it via Home app and now everything works including unlock with Ultra watch. This confirms that the Homekit upgrade broke things and it will require a thread server to get it working properly again.

I have tried all the listed "fixes" (not in any order)(I do not have a HomeHub. I am purely using bluetooth for now)

1- deleting/adding home kit on iPhone 13 Pro Max

2- toggle on/off background refresh on iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra 2

3- adding Schlage Encode Plus hardware using the picture on the back of the user manual (QR code under the battery cover does not work)

4- adding Schlage Encode Plus hardware by tapping top of iPhone to Schlage Encode Plus without the battery cover on

5- new batteries

6- restarting iPhone

7- restarting Apple Watch Ultra 2

8- adding Schlage Encode Plus using the Schlage App, then setting it up through Home Kit within the Schlage App

9- holding Apple Watch within 2 cm of Schlage Encode Plus for 30 seconds (multiple opening cycles)

10- adding Schlage Encode Plus using the HomeKit App only

11- making sure iPhone and Apple Watch are both up to date

12- express mode is turned on

All of the above "solutions"did not work. Apple Watch says either "try again" or "done", Schalage Encode Plus *beeps* and then nothing happens. All the while, tapping the top of my iPhone against the battery cover would instantaneously unlock the Schlage Encode Plus hardware

I was ready to give up having gone down the rabbit hole for more than a week. Today, I decided to check on the Apple Watch to see if there was an update ready to be installed.

THERE WAS AN UPDATE!!!!

It took 10 mins to download and install (I initiated the download on my iPhone). I didn't have much hope but after the update, I decided to tap my Apple Watch on the battery cover of the Schlage Encode Plus and...

IT FINALLY UNLOCKED.

Goodluck brothers/sisters...godspeed

Extra Points: My Apple Watch never unlocked my MacBook Air 2022 M2. I would always have to use the Touch ID on the laptop. Today, whenever the Mac Air needed authentication, my Apple Watch notified me to press the button below the crown. HOW COOL IS THAT?

Update: I finally got mine to work. I cannot 100% confirm if this fixed my issue but I added my sister as a resident via homekit. It was bugging out when I added her but she eventually had access on her phone. After doing this. I tapped the door a couple hours later to see if it would magically work and it did and has ever since. Try adding someone else or another icloud account and let me know if that works for you as well.

I have the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Also 3 Encode Plusses. One of the locks failed and was replaced under warranty. My Ultra watch opened two of the 3, but not the new one. Called Schlage, waited an eternity to talk to someone, and they told me it was Apple's problem.

I disagree. Schlage, the vendor of locks that are touted to work with Apple products, is the owner of the problem.

I am happy to report that with the latest Watch OS update that occurred for me last night, solved my problem. My Ultra 2 now opens all of my Encode Plus locks again. Good luck!

So how is this for random after doing all kinds of troubleshooting yesterday and being completely unsatisfied. See my above message. Today I got home from work and just for no good reason tapped my watch to see if it would work, and totally did. On both locks just like it’s supposed to. My phone now opens both locks and my watch opens both locks. When my husband finally goes to sleep and he’s not annoyed by the alarm system going off every 15 seconds for me opening and closing the doors I will try his phone to see if I have the same luck.

like you had done all those things and some with Apple support and yet nothing . Looked for update and none there. After reading your luck I looked again and there was an update! Was so excited thought they had finally fixed. Downloaded so excited that was finally going to work Well no nothing different!!!!!. Restarted everything and still same as before> AMber light flashes but have to get the phone to unlock it!! SO very frustrating! It shoudl not be so hard to get this thing to work! Shame on APPLE!
