Reading or deleting mail on one account reads/deletes it on another
I have several accounts on my iPhone. One of them forwards mail to another. I often need to read mail on the first account and delete it but keep it on the second one to reply to later.
Unfortunately, that no longer seems possible. On previous iPhones, if I read it on account 1 and deleted it, it would mark it read on account 2. I would then go back in and mark it unread. Annoying, but not insurmountable.
As of my latest phone (or the latest software update), if I delete it on account 1, it deletes it from account 2. If I mark it unread on account 2, it marks it unread on account 1. It's ridiculous and stupid.
To head off questions I've seen asked in the past of people with this question:
- Nobody else is using these accounts
- One is Gmail, one is an independent server
- Neither account uses Exchange
- The accounts are not connected in any way, except that one forwards its mail to the other on the server end
- Email is not showing by thread
- I am not in "All accounts" when I read or delete the mail
There has got to be a way to fix this!
