My lost Iphone erased from my devices “Find my”

Hello,

I lost my Iphone last March in the Philippines. I activated “lost device” option on my “Find my” application. Today I received a notification saying device has been found, but the time that I had checked it on my “Find my” the phone was erased from my devices. I would like to know how it happened?

Did you by any chance enter the user credentials when you received the notification? If you did, they notification was a scam from the thief and giving them the user credentials gave them exactly what they needed to remove the device and set it up for themselves.
