Canon EOS Utility won't inststall on Mac running High Sierra

Been trying to install Canon EU-Installset-M2.13.31.11c on an old MacBook Pro running High Sierra.

Seems to download fine and am able to unzip it. Clicking on the dmg brings up an installer window which in turn bring up the "downloaded from internet" warning. Select "open" and that's the end of it.

Community member Blueberry Lover pointed out the Image Capture can be used to offload data from the T3 Canon but I would like to find out what is going on.

Just installed a fresh copy of 10.13.6 and reset most everything I could think of.

So far Canon has not been able to help.

Any ideas?

In Disk Utility>View, select Show all Devices, highlight the top left entry.

Run Disk First Aid on all items in the left panel, from top down.

How much free space do you have on the drive?

Try installing in Safe Mode...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Have spent all morning in a back and forth with Canon.

Here's their latest:

"I'd be happy to further assist. Based on the descriptions you've provided I would recommend reaching out to Apple's support team for additional information regarding your software issues, as they seem to be outside of the scope of support of Canon."

I can't Thank You enough!

The new user fixed it...Yea

Been driving me nuts all weekend. Well...that and a bunch of other things. All technology related.

I am now left wondering what is wrong with my account that kept me from installing it like normal people would and how to get the photos delivered into the "Photos" app. For some reason it is greyed out.

Again...I Thank You for Your expertise and hangin' with me until the solution was found.

If I hadn't quit drinking I know what I would be doing next :^)

Much Appreciated

Bob

Yes it is available on the old user account and I may have figured out how to get the pictures to download to where I want them to.

And Yes, the OS's have become more difficult to manage. I know I need to move up to a later model but am somewhat fearful of the challenges a move jumping several iterations will present. Don't have a lot of patience anymore.

I have always thought System 7 was the best. :^)

Thanks again! !
