when I buy a macbook air at the shops it's a 2022 model. Can you buy a 2024 model?
JB HiFi macbook airs are only 2022 model - is that the same if I buy direct from apple?

Apple still sells some 13” M2 MacBook Airs (as “price point” models) - but the latest 13” and 15” MacBook Airs (as of April 21, 2024) are all M3 models.
It sounds as if ordering direct from Apple would let you order more current models - in addition to giving you the chance to custom-order at least 16 GB of RAM.
