Horizontal lines on 2022 Macbook Air

Hello,

Last week my screen went beserk and then I had horizontal lines on my Mac then the screen wouldn't turn on.All of a sudden everything went back to normal but then it happened again today- my monitor never turned off but now I have thick horizontal lines that make everything nearly impossible to read. I scheduled an appointment for tomorrow at the Genius Bar but I have a question - based off of what I have described, what are the odds that they will have to go take my laptop in for several days (at least) to fix as opposed to being able to fix it on the spot? I work mainly from my laptop and I'm freaking out as this will negatively impact me- I have had no other issues and work hard to keep it in the best shape that I can. Also for anyone who has been in this situation before (as it seems common), how much did it cost to fix? Very worried that this will financially ruin me, on top of everything else.

Thank you.

Contact Apple Support for an Official Answer:

I had to send my Mac in for service 11 times during the days of COVID. I’ve had to bring my Macs in oh so many times for service. None of which I had to have a proof of purchase. Why? Because I purchased AppleCare. So, go here, and see if it is covered under any warranty:Find Information About your Warranty or AppleCare Plan - Apple Support

Apple would have the Official Answer:

These are just user-to-user forums. So, give Apple a call, show them what has occurred. You can take some photos, or open the Photos app and hover your phone’s iSight Camera over it while talking with them on speaker phone. See my User Tip: Screenshare your iPhone with the Camera App Enabled to Easily Converse Over-the-Phone with Apple Support - User Tip

Apple Contact Us Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
