title line problem in pages epub

I have created a book file in Pages and when I convert to an ePub it turns out very nicely except for one frustrating problem. The title insists on being on a page of its own with the subtitle starting the second page. There is no page break after the title and the subtitle style is not in the TOC nor is "Start paragraph on a new page" ticked off.

I can't think of anything else that would cause this and will appreciate any ideas.

I did.

I had created the paragraph style for the subtitle from the style I used for chapter headings. It was't the same but for some reason I don't understand, Pages was considering it the same. Because the chapter headings were in the Table of Contents, Pages started anything with that paragraph style on a new page, including the subtitle. Consequently, the title was left behind.

I changed the subtitle paragraph style to something dissociated from the chapter headings style and solved the problem.
