Siri won’t search internet while driving

I see a number of people have asked this without suitable answer or fix. Why in April 2024 this is still not resolved? Surely this is not Apple being a Nanny? All this means is you try other ways to find the answer which is more disturbing and distracting as a driver.

Siri searching web instead of navigating to home. I used to be able to say “navigate to home” but it stopped working a while ago. Now when I ask Siri to navigate home it tries searching the web. I’ve seen a few people have had this problem, and resetting the listen for Hey Siri seemed to fix it, but no luck for me. Has anyone had the same problem?

Siri is not telling weather it is showing that I can't tell due to settings but I don't know how to fix this issue

SIRI Not fully functional when in moving vehicle. CELLULAR is connected to internet. WHILE IN A MOVING VEHICLE: Siri responds to some questions, but will not search the web. Focus is disabled Do Not Disturb is disabled When the vehicle is in motion the following is observed: INTERNET is FULLY OPERATIONAL with browsers and applications (except SIRI) Manually entering request in SAFARI and GOOGLE apps provide correct results Perusing Facebook is fully operational Perusing LinkedIn is fully operational Sending and receiving EMAILs is fully operational Sending and receiving text messages is fully operational downloading audible books on Audible is fully operational Ordering merchandise on Amazon is fully operational Asking SIRI to search the web is NOT operational. “Search the web for …. “ result: “Siri cannot search the web on iPhone”. This only happens when in a moving vehicle. Vehicle stops, wait a few minutes & Siri is fully functional. iPhone shows the car icon … but FOCUS is not set up for driving and FOCUS is disabled. THIS IS NOT AN INTERNET CONNECTIVITY ISSUE !!!! I repeat … NOT an internet connection issue - it is a problem with SIRI when a vehicle is in motion. Again, I can manually enter the query into SAFARI or GOOGLE browsers and the internet works! FOCUS is disabled! What are the settings that cause SIRI to respond differently when in a moving vehicle? I want full SIRI functionality when connected to Internet (cellular or Wi-Fi) and in a moving vehicle (Car, Bus, Ferry, Boat, Airplane, …)

As for “why”, Apple doesn’t usually document that. Send your feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

Best save your web searches for later. Or use Siri and create a note. Or pull off safely somewhere, and search.

With many years’ experience as an emergency services responder, I would prefer my fellow drivers have fewer distractions, as I met far too many drivers that were distracted, and also met too many others they had then adversely effected.
