Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
My MacBook Air is locked. There are no options for me to reset on the main screen. Other advice online say that if you click on the reset button, you have the option to reset the password. I do not have this. What do I do? I only have three options for buttons to click – shut down, restart or sleep. There are no other options. Thank you.
Option 1: hover over the password field and click the option to reset using your Apple ID
Option 2: turn off the device, command + R to open Recovery System, at the top hover over on "Utilities" click on "Terminal, in the window that opens type "resetpassword", press enter, and follow the instructions to reset.
Thanks for your advice, but neither of these options work. When I hover over the password, there is no option for reset. When I turn off the laptop and hold command and R nothing happens. It just makes a sound every time the R is pressed. Is there any other advice? Thank you
