yes, it will work fine. but it needs to be connected DIRECTLY to the Mac. do not attempt to use a hub or dock. and since the iMac only has USB-C / TB3 ports, you will need an USB-C to USB Adapter to connect it directly. also, if you get a third party adapter, it will be a craps shoot as to wether or not it will work with your Mac.
