New iPad Pro 13 inch M4 Overheating
My iPad Pro gets very hot while painting in Procreate within about 1/2 hour. My case I’m using is super thin. Center back and front is hottest points.

how did you get them to replace yours? Mine is getting too hot to while using procreate.
Ensure that you have disabled the Accessibility Zoom function. Many reports have been seen here that attribute unexpected high temperatures when using Procreate with an Apple Pencil:
Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Zoom > Zoom - set to OFF
My battery performance goes down the toilet when it begins to heat up. It's so very frustrating. And I have my screen brightness set at around 30% to try and mitigate, but it doesn't help.
Annoying...to say at the very least.
. I would liove to know how your report of the heat resulted in getting an offer of replacement. ;-) All I got was someone who didn’t know anything and tried to cover up for it by telling me I had this problem because i haven’t updated to version 18 yet.
Version 18 BTW is one that is bricking m4 pads!
Me too. I have an iPad Pro first gen and M4 iPro. My first gen has never been hot. Now on my M4 after just 5 minutes on certain apps. it gets really really hot. I'll probably update to iOS 18 in the next few days. I hope that sorts the problem out.
My sure about you but iOS 18 did not help at all with the heat factor. I have been using it without a cover and makes no difference. It is frustrating to have to close my apps frequently to let it cool down and charge before bringing my apps back up.
I've had my Ipad m4 for a couple of months now and the overheating is really frustrating while drawing. My old Ipad (first gen) didn't have this problem and I even kept it in a case.
I'm afraid to put this one in a case because of how it gets.
It's horrible to draw for anything longer than 30 minutes.
I have the same problem with files, notes. It feels like with apple intelligence they did not optimise the performance of these apps and they are drastically overheating. More often than not, files would just crash and I would lose all my annotations progress. Battery life is terrible and iPad becomes really hot. Fun fact, the iPad is actually cooler when playing games and watching videos than using files and notes. I'm on 11 inch ipad pro M4.
Mine with apple notes and Apple Pencil Pro gets so hot that becomes unusable!!! Which my old IPad I always wrote four hours without any problem and now this crazy expensive one I have to stop because the screen burns. How can that be possible?

What was this - if not a reply within this thread?
Was the replacement any better?
I’m still waiting for the replacement

Was your ipad Air 3rd Gen updated to the newest IOS when it didn't overheat? I'm trying to figure out if its a hardware thing or an IOS thing.
