I sWhen I search for the air tag I just purchased, that is in the room next-door to me my iPhone cannot connect to it. How is this even a little bit worth $30? Seems to be an issue here. I’m sick of overpriced garbage how do I return it APPLE!

It is not a GPS Tracker, it uses Bluetooth just like Tile and all the other low cost Bluetooth trackers. If you are looking for a GPS Tracker, then you will be paying a lot more. When another device comes within Bluetooth range of the AirTag, that device will update the location of the AirTag it has found.
If you happen to have an iPhone 11 or newer, running iOS 14.5 or newer, you can use Precision Finding (Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Find My > Precise Location) with your iPhone to locate the tag.
No Problem, Bluetooth range is usually about 30', but obstructions such as walls will reduce it even further.
Thanks for explaining this. Seems useless when it won’t connect within 10’. Not what I was expecting nor do I believe that this is what was advertised for it. Thanks again
