pairing old airpod pros 2 with new case

Hi, I just got a new AirPod pro 2nd gen replacement case with USB-C, however my old AirPods pros are from a lightning charger case. I have “forgot device” in bluetooth to try and repair but the new case won’t pair. I’m also not sure if they are even charging in the new case and were wondering if it was because the airpods are from a different type of case ?

Is the case and your AirPods both from the second generation?

See this on how to pair the replacement case

Put both AirPods in your charging case.
Connect the case to power, close the lid, and wait 20 minutes.
Open the lid and check the status light. It should flash amber.
Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for 15 seconds until the status light flashes white.
Go to the Home Screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Open the case—with your AirPods inside—and hold it next to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. A setup animation appears on your screen.
Tap Connect, then tap Done.
