Messages frozen and crashes on iOS 17.5.1

I am still having this problem with no solution in sight even after hours on the phone with Apple Support. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and then it has actually resolved?

I am also having problems with my screen freezing in Safari on my iPad after 17.5.1. This typically happens when I am doing a search. The only way to fix it is to shut down and restart.

I deleted the message app then reinstalled it. worked for several days, still spotty at times. ios 17.5.1

No it's not. iOS 18 comes out in the fall.

This did not work for me.

I had the same issue using an eSIM. Support had me go into focus and turn it off. Then go into settings, messages and turn off Imessage and reboot. Once up again turn iMessage back on and reboot again. Lastly go into settings ,transfer or reset iPhone, reset, reset network settings. Reboot once again. I no longer get the frozen white screen on opening iMessage. Hope this helps :)

I didn't even have Focus on, but figured I'd try turning it on, then off. Seemed to fix everything like magic. Puzzling but, I'll take it.

Both my wife and I are experiencing this issue. Will try the path you laid out, sheeesh it looks **** time consuming

I did the reset as new with no backup and it still happened

If you fully reset and didn’t restore from backup, wouldn’t this suggest it’s an Apple ID / iCloud issue?

This worked for me: From Blenny- Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN > click on your VPN > Delete VPN
