First off make sure to do a backup with iTunes or with Apple device app in windows 10 or finder in a Mac because if you don’t have that backup and install a iOS 18 beta if you want to go back the iCloud backup won’t work because the iPhone creates backup itself when connected the charger and with iOS beta , to get back to iOS 17 you have to uninstall the beta profile then restore the uptime to factory settings see the link

Downgrading from an iOS beta to a stable release like iOS 17 is possible, but it's important to follow the correct steps to avoid data loss or further complications. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to downgrade your iPhone using either iCloud backup or iTunes backup:

Option 1: Downgrading Using iCloud Backup

  1. Back Up Your Current Data: Before downgrading, ensure you have a recent backup of your current iOS 18 beta data. You can do this using iCloud backup or iTunes backup.
  2. Reset Your iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase all data on your iPhone, including the iOS 18 beta software.
  3. Set Up Your iPhone: During the setup process, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup." Sign in with your Apple ID and select the most relevant backup for your iPhone.
  4. Restore from iCloud Backup: The setup process will guide you through restoring your data from the selected iCloud backup. Once complete, your iPhone will be running the stable iOS 17 version.

Option 2: Downgrading Using iTunes Backup

  1. Connect Your iPhone to Your Computer: Ensure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. Put Your iPhone into Recovery Mode: The process for putting your iPhone into recovery mode varies depending on the device model. Refer to Apple's official support page for specific instructions: If you forgot your iPhone passcode, use your Mac or PC to reset it - Apple Support (English)
  3. Open iTunes and Locate Your iPhone: Once your iPhone is in recovery mode, iTunes should automatically detect it. If not, select your iPhone from the iTunes window.
  4. Restore from iTunes Backup: In iTunes, click the "Restore" button. You will be prompted to choose a backup file. Select the most relevant backup for your iPhone from your computer.
  5. Restore from iTunes Backup: iTunes will initiate the restore process, installing iOS 17 and restoring your data from the selected backup. Once complete, your iPhone will be running iOS 17.

Hi,

You can return to the iOS 17.5 stable version from the iOS 18 beta without losing your data.

Since you already backed up your data, you don't need to worry about it.

1. Enter Recovery Mode on your iPhone

You need to connect your iPhone to your Mac.

Go to Finder on your Mac > Select iPhone from the left navigation > Now, Enter Recovery Mode on your iPhone by pressing the volume up and volume down buttons and holding the Power button.

Now, open Finder > Tap on the Restore button when it appears > Again, click the Restore and Update button when it appears from the prompt. You will see an instruction there. Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for some time to complete the process.

Let me know if this helps. I am also happy to answer any questions you have.

I don’t like this new update ios18 I really want ios17 back

It is a beta version with many features that are still not expected to work That is why it is called a beta. It should never be installed on a primary device for this reason. Follow the instructions that have been provided many times here to remove it, and wait until it has been officially released.

Same, I just updated my phone, and it feels like I lost all the customizations I made to my phone. It feels like there's too many steps to things now and everything is squished into tiny unseen places. I really don't like the extreme drop shadows behind all the text or the fact that they randomly turned that far left widget screen into a homepage, but didn't include everything I had on it. Trying to switch back and avoid future updates if the 18 rolls out for real.
