It’s very very strange that the oldest iPhone compatible with Apple Intelligence is the iPhone 15 Pro, but maybe because it has the oldest processor that can do a lot of work, the A17 Pro. Only iPads and Macs with M processors can have Apple Intelligence, such as the iPad Pro M4, M1 chip MacBooks, etc. Even though newly announced Apple software versions like iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS sequoia, etc are compatible with other devices, like iPad (9th generation), iPhone XS Max, etc

Every iPhone, iPad, and Mac that has an Apple Silicon processor and 8+ GB of RAM is scheduled to get the Apple Intelligence beta. Here I use "Apple Silicon" loosely to include both A-series chips and M-series chips, since both have the same basic machine code architecture, and Apple got M-series chips by scaling up A-series designs.

No Mac that lacks an Apple Silicon processor is scheduled to get the Apple Intelligence beta. Apple Silicon Macs only. 68K, PowerPC, and Intel Macs need not apply.

No iPhone, iPad, or Mac that has less than 8 GB of RAM is scheduled to get the Apple Intelligence beta. All Apple devices with M-series chips have at least 8 GB of RAM. But among those with A-series chips, only iPhone 15 Pros and iPad 15 Pro Maxes have 8 GB of RAM. Every other iPhone or iPad with an A-series chip has less.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max stand out because, for devices with A-series chips, they have an unusually large amount of RAM. As much as a base M3 MacBook Air, M3 iMac, or M2 Mac mini.

I’ve been waiting to use apple intelligence for ages and then I got a new phone but no apple intelligence. I don’t know what to do, I’ve had iPhone 13 since Monday

The models that Apple Intelligence will run on were announced in June.

If you bought the iPhone 13 from Apple, you have 14 days to return it. You can return it and either put the money towards an iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max or wait until the next model phone arrives.

If you bought the phone from someplace else, contact them for information on their return policy.

Well, that’s stange.. ChatGPT runs perfectly on my 14 pro max. So this excuse is invalid.

You are making a mistake in believing ChatGPT is Apple Intelligence. They are not the same. You can access ChatGPT in a web browser if you want and not use any resources on your device. That has nothing to do with the requirements for Apple Intelligence.

Its really disappointing that my IPhone 14 Pro Max can’t run and or will receive AI on the incoming iOS 18.1, you are forcing the public and customers to your marketing protocol’s and to investment of new iPhones every time…as your wish…and as desire….

No one here is forcing you to do anything. This is a user-to-user forum. Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

your competitors doesn’t play like that, only you apple…

Ha! That couldn't be further from the truth.

Apple does not manufacture flagship devices because it exclusively sells the iPhone.

The iPhone lineup includes various models, for example: The iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max. Despite the different models, they are essentially the same device, with the exception of varying hardware specifications.

Logically, it is reasonable for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max to support Apple Intelligence due to the hardware upgrade they have over the iPhone 15.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with the A17 chip, which features six cores, compared to the A16 chip with five cores found in the iPhone 15.

This additional core significantly impacts the performance of the device, particularly when running demanding applications such as artificial intelligence.

What do you mean by "exclusively"? If you mean only Apple sells iPhones, well, that's certainly not true. There are lots of Authorized Apple Resellers, notably carriers. Or do you mean Apple only sells iPhones? Also, obviously not true.

Why can't Apple do this and victimize models like 14 pro max 13 pro max when Samsung offers cloud artificial intelligence technology even to its old devices?

Because, unlike Google, Apple doesn’t use cloud AI, which allows Google to monitor everything you do with AI, and use that to build a complex profile of you. If you are happy having no personal privacy get an Android phone.
