Apple refuse to repair my iphone

my iphone 14pro Max  got damaged I have apple care plus , reached out to service center &  they said they will take 4 days to repair the iphone , but now iam getting the update that my device will not be repaired catastrophic damage, I don't understand what is the use of taking  apple care plus (only front and back damage) help me
