Apple CarPlay GPS wrong location issue - Part II

I had a 2023 VW and there were frequent issues where the navigation maps location in the vehicle would use the wrong location, often off by 1/4 to 1 mile. If the iPhone was not connected to CarPlay, its location would be correct, but when CarPlay was active, the location used the vehicle's incorrect location. It seemed like the main issue was the vehicle's bad GPS device. However, the phone was not able to use its own correct location either.

This issue is commonly reported by owners of VWs, Fords, Toyotas and BMWs.

I now have a 2023 BMW and noticed something a little different than in my old VW. I had a case where I was using Apple maps in CarPlay and the location was incorrect similar to what I had experience before. However, I was able to switch to the native BMW navigation map and the location was correct. I could switch back and forth and see the on my iPhone and in Apple CarPlay maps the incorrect location and then the BMW navigation map location was correct. Then, I shut off CarPlay and the iPhone's location in the maps apps (Google maps, Apple maps) on the phone became correct.

This hints at the issue being an Apple CarPlay issue. Perhaps the issue in my VW was actually caused by Apple CarPlay all along?? But in the case of VW, the vehicle used the bad location from CarPlay and in the case of BMW, the vehicle does not use the bad location from CarPlay. ??
