No 5G on Vodafone iPhone 12 mini

Please can someone help me to show me where I am going wrong. I have an unlimited data plan with 5G activated on it. The setting on my phone are correct within data “5G Auto and Allow more data on 5G”. I have been to the middle of London where Vodafone claim the have 5G ultra to other parts of the uk where normal 5G is meant to be but I am not picking up 5G. I have contacted VF several times in frustration (each time takes around 45 mins to get any form of sense from the online support as VF don’t do customer support telephone call centres) but each time they insist I must be in an area that doesn’t have 5G yet according to their map at the time of messaging even though I was at the time in a 5G or 5G ultra area.

I am starting to give up hope on 5G. I have been with VF for 35 years but their customer loyalty is rubbish and after being promised 5G for 18 months all without no luck and I am running out of steam.

Please can someone advise me if I am going wrong somewhere or point me in the right direction. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hey. There are multiple things that you can do to try and fix the problem

  • Force restarting by pressing volume up then volume down and then holding the power key
  • resetting network settings: settings>general>reset/erase>erase network settings (this will delete all of your saved Wi-Fi passwords)
  • resetting all settings
  • backing up your data and restoring through iTunes/finder on a computer or MacBook.

Another alternative could be contacting Vodafone to get a new SIM card, but this can be a long process if you don’t go to the store directly to get one.

If none of these options work then it could be a problem with the device. Have you tried a different SIM card to see if 5G works?
