Trash icon replaced with Archive icon on 17.4.1 ???

I see that on my phone and my iPad with the newest update when you’re going through your emails, where you used to hit a trash button to get rid of them when done with them, that button is now archive. I have no interest in archiving emails that I’ve read and I’m done with. Is there anyway to get the trash icon back up there instead like it used to be? My next question is, I see that for cloud emails and for yahoo emails both of those sources have an archive folder. But for Gmail, it does not either on the Apple phone or on the Gmail app. So when you hit archive now that that’s the only choice, where do they go for Gmail?
