About Error 403:

Error 403 means that you have access to a server, but you are not being granted permission to get in. If you cannot get into Apple's server, then that seems to be something on Apple's end. Your network connection to Apple is working just fine --but you are not being permitted to use it. So, give Apple a call, requesting assistance with this.

Troubleshooting mcOS Reinstall:

Restore from a Backup:

A. Did you back Up your Mac First?:  Be certain you Create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac, so that way you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reconfiguration.

B. Connect Using Ethernet:

What happens when you connect your Mac to your router using Ethernet? That may provide a more reliable connection, lessening the chance of losing the connection.

C. Re-Mount the Drive:

Boot into Recovery Mode (Intel) . You need to click the “Mount’ button to proceed. So, select the drives, and then click "Mount" Try rebooting once more. If of no success, then click unmount button, and then the mount button. Try rebooting once more. It looks dulled-out. So, if you cannot click it, then click the First Aid button to fix this volume.

D. See if your Hard drive is Failing:

What to Try:

  1. Boot: into Recovery ModeGo Here:  How to Use Safe Mode on your Mac- Apple Support
  2. Select: Disk Utility
  3. Select: the Drive
  4. Click: First Aid button

Getting Around 4 Digit Passcode Issue:

A. Resetting the Passcode:

So, what the Hard Drive Status?:

Well, if you tried everything else, then does that mean your hard drive is failing in Disk Utility?

B. Provide a Photo of this Message:

Reply back with a photo of the screen. If your device is so old, then I'm not so certain you can get around this.

C. Two Other Thoughts:

Try putting two zeros in front of the passcode. No success? Reset your passcode. You'd reset your device to do so.

  1. Go here: Reset the passcode - Apple Support
  2. Scroll to: Set a passcode on iPhone
  3. As it Reads: "If you can’t remember your passcode, you can erase your iPhone with a computer or with recovery mode, then set a new passcode."
