iOS 17.6 Network Issues

Recently updated to iOS 17.6, so far I’ve had my mobile network connection stop working 2-3 times while out running errands. Both times it showed coverage but would not work unless I toggled my network on and off. Since then I’ve done a network reset and my hope is that it solves the issue, but have not been able to test it for sure.

Frustrating either way.

It sounds like you've already taken some good initial steps by resetting your network settings. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. **Check Carrier Settings**: Make sure your carrier settings are up to date. Go to Settings > General > About. If an update is available, you'll see an option to update your carrier settings.

2. **Toggle Airplane Mode**: If the issue occurs again, try toggling Airplane Mode on and off. This can sometimes quickly reset your network connection.

3. **Restart Your iPhone**: A simple restart can sometimes resolve network issues.

4. **Reinsert SIM Card**: Remove your SIM card and reinsert it to ensure it's seated properly.

5. **Contact Your Carrier**: If the issue persists, it might be a problem with your carrier's network. Contact your carrier to see if there are any known issues or if they can provide further assistance.

6. **Check for iOS Updates**: Occasionally, new updates are released to address bugs. Keep an eye out for any new updates that might fix this issue.

If the problem continues despite these steps, you may want to contact Apple Support for further assistance.

This is also happening to me; ive had dropped calls after calling, my phone is overheating, data running slow, and I charging my phone is a nightmare it won’t hold a charge at all unless I close everything and turn data off(sometimes have to use ice packs to keep it from overheating so it can charge). I talked to a representative they said to take it in Apple Store or Best Buy. This update truly destroyed my phone I have XS MAX which is older but still it was working amazing. Till I decided to update.

SravanKrA, When issues start ONLY AFTER iOS 17.6.1 update then it iOS update ONLY issue. When EVERYTHING remained the SAME after iOS 17.6.1 update except iOS version, then it is iOS 17.6.1 ONLY issue. It makes sense as a software engineer and when EVERYONE is reporting these issues occured ONLY after iOS 17.6.1 update. NOT the right questions, but the looking at a pattern of facts from MULTIPLE users, EVERYONE has SAME pattern, should lead Apple to investigate WHY through exhaustive testing using multiple ENVIRONMENTS like eSIM, physical SIM combinations with multiple carriers was NOT done before rolling out iOS 17.6.1. Rather than preaching users, Apple should learn themselves HOW and WHEN ANY update is READY for roll-out; rather than asking users to diagnostic issues. This is a respond from so called a TRILLION DOLLAR company. You are NOT worth million dollar too.

I need a response on why physical SIM with T-Mobile service which was working very well WITHOUT ANY ISSUES AT ALL before iOS 17.6.1 on iPhone XR is not even recognized after iOS 17.6.1 update. Provide me testing results of your test you have done in Apple for the EXACT SAME software and hardware environment before this update is rolled out. If users need to diagnosys your bugs then your software and company has NO intelligence. No wonder why you call it Apple intelligence (TRASH) but NOT REAL WORKING intelligence.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

I read the reply to the person complaining about network issues after updating I/OS. Whilst I agree and understand the point being made, sometimes, one has to ask the “What changed” question. This happened to me. I lost the ability to print from my iPhone 14 Pro Max after updating to I/OS 17 in December/ January. I did all the usual checks. I got Apple involved in about April where after much investigation, I was asked to update to the latest 17 point release, which I did. No success. The Apple operator stayed in touch with me for a couple of months but no subsequent update has restored my ability to print from the phone. The only thing that changed was the I/ OS (17). Before that, printing worked fine. I was informed the problem had been reported to the technical team. I cannot be the only user to encounter this problem. I think my Apple contact has given up hope. I did not hear back from him after my last email. I’d be interested to know if other users have complained of the problem

I got the same issue.

I lost the connection every 2-3 hours…

If i start a reconnect to my WiFi i got the message „password wrong“.

After a restart the device works fine for a time.

Ignoring the Wifi and install as a new one doesn‘t work. The problem comes back.

Delete all Wifi settings doesn‘t work.

Seems for me as an iOS 17.6 problem.

i had never before Wifi problems with iOS Devices.

I had to offload just about everything to make room for the update and now a lot of apps won't reinstall. IG and FB cannot connect to the internet. We have updated our router and extenders but still no changes. I do a lot of posting from IG for my business and this is not helpful! Since everything was working just fine before the update, I have to think that this is indeed the iOS update's fault!

I recently updated my iPhone 13 Pro and lost all mobile network connectivity. Neither my physical SIM nor eSIM is connecting to any networks. I've tried several troubleshooting steps, but nothing has worked:

  1. Normal/Power Restart the iPhone: This often resolves connectivity issues.
  2. Reset network settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  3. Check for carrier settings: Settings > General > About and check for a carrier settings update.
  4. Toggle Airplane Mode: Turn Airplane Mode on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off.
  5. Check for water damage: Exposure to water can affect network connectivity.

Unfortunately, none of these solutions worked.

Both my eSIM and physical SIM cards are now damaged. I removed the physical SIM (an international SIM) and inserted it into an Android phone, only to find it’s dead. This SIM is for a roaming network, and replacing it requires me to travel back to the issuing country, as they only provide replacements in person.

As a result, all my bank OTPs are stuck, and my banking transactions are fully halted.

I've noticed a few other users reporting similar issues.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this without resorting to a factory reset?

Thanks in advance for any help!
