I recently have gotten a new phone and have done all the data transferring from my old phone to the new one. On the new phone I have not been able to send or receive text messages, and in my imessage settings, when I press on 'send and receive,' all I see is my apple ID, not my phone number. I have also tried going to 'my number' in the phone settings, but it is competely blank and I can't do anything with it.

Your phone needs to be activate by your phone carrier in order to use SMS, contact them, this is probably the reason your number isn't listed in imessage.
