Mail app not accepting password

The mail app on my MacBook Pro (15 inch 2018 - Sonoma 14.5) is not working. It prompts me for my password and tells me it's incorrect. It is not. I'm having the same problem on my iPhone 12, but only intermittently.

It's not an issue with my email provider as I can sign in with no issues online.

Remove your Hotmail account and add it again using the “Microsoft Exchange” choice when presented with the list of providers.
