Why does my iPhone say "Memory Is Full"?

I think this question has been asked before, but cant find it. My iPhone continually tells me my memory is full and I need to download software to “fix it.” What’s the story on this?

It is advertising presented by a less than honest developer, as part of some recently downloaded app (possibly a new game). There is no need to download anything. To get rid of the bogus advertising, delete the app responsible. Also report the app to Apple.
