Bluetooth Spinning Wheel of doom

Bought a pencil for my iPad Air 5th generation got home and it wont pair. It wont pair because my iPad bluetooth is stuck in spinning wheel of doom mode. No devices are listing AT ALL.

To cover a couple of things

  • i've confirmed i have the right pencil
  • i have the pencil, 2 different earbuds and wifi speaker that are all within 5 feet and in pairing mode and iPad's just going "nope lets just spin this wheel some more"
  • I've toggled on and off the bluetooth multiple times
  • I've charged the device fully
  • I've updated the iOS
  • I've done the whole power reset thing that seems daft where you press the volumes in a specific order and then hold power
  • I've watch several different videos where people idiot-explain things and even tried some of them
  • I've considered jumping off my balcony in an effort to put a stop to the frustration of something that's supposed to just work
  • I've confirmed there is not option to reset network settings in my iOS for iPad.

You'd think apple would build a switch some where in the software to actually reset the friggin bluetooth. The on-off switch clearly doesn't do anything to reset the circuit. I'd really like to not have to reset the whole bloody device just because of poor design on a very expensive item. Suggestions welcome.
