Why I am unable to update or download new apps that are free?

I would like to know WHY I am unable to update, or download new apps that are FREE, when it says that I have an unpaid subscription that did not go through?? It was for 2.99 I THINK, I can’t really find where it tells me which one that it actually is. I can’t cancel the subscription, I can’t pay the subscription, (the money is there) I cannot do a thing!! How do I fix this??!! Extremely frustrating and not happy at all! I also can’t delete the card and put it back in, like a refresh, because it tells me that I have a subscription fee that has declined, and to update my payment information?! HOW?! It won’t let me pay it, I can’t delete the subscription, or the card I have on file……NOTHING!?

If you have an unpaid subscription, Apple will want you to pay that.

You would need to add another payment method first and then you will be able to delete the previous one. After you add the new payment method, you will most likely see the charge processed. If you have reviewed your subscriptions and it is not showing, then you did cancel it already, but you still owe for the last payment. Since your current payment method has failed to process the transaction, then it has been determined that it is no longer a valid payment method, so that is why a new one is required. It makes no difference if there is now money there to process the transaction, you will still no longer be able to use it.
