Ipad doesn’t recognize Apple ID

I set up new 10th gen ipad. Wi-Fi is connected. It appeared to be successful transfer, but Apple ID password says it’s incorrect. I cannot finish syncing or get into any app. Message keeps coming back “incorrect password” yet I used the password to get into this discussion on my old ipad.
