I placed the pre-order promptly this morning the moment the apple stored allowed. My card has already been charged and the order is now in "processing". Apple usually does not charge for payment until an order shipped. Can I assume my phone is shipping or very close to it and potentially will receive before the launch date on the 20th?

Also, not sure what country you are in but if you are in the US if you have an account with UPS or FedEx you can often see when info about your package once a label was created before you may receive an email or text from Apple about it officially shipping. In the past it’s how I would track movement of preorders seeing them travel through China and its various stops until it reached the US and then reached the UPS hub in Lexington KY then sit for several days (due to the shipping exceptions that Apple imposed) then usually the day before launch is when it starts moving again to reach your city/area distribution center and then of course loaded onto the truck that will deliver it to you.
I pre-ordered mine on launch day at 7:04am central time. Just checked FedEx and UPS. I can see tracking information on UPS. My order was last scan in Anchorage, Alaska on 9/17/2024 11:24 PM. So check again today to see if tracking has populated on either FedEx or UPS for your order.
You won’t. It is being held in Kentucky (as it always does during preorder launches) and then will travel to your area distribution hub in a way that it will be delivered to you on the 20th as they contractually agreed.
It’s as simple as this… you get shipped the iPhone on the day stated when you set up the preorder. For me it says the Friday the 20th and hasn’t changed since.
It’s like you’re going to the Applestore without going to the Applestore.

if you live in America I guarantee you will get tracking information on the day it’s supposed to arrive or a bit earlier (1-2days)
45 of the 50 states in America have Apple stores. There should be no reason that Apple would have to ship a week in advance to get it to you on the phones release date. Billion dollar companies don’t have those problems.
if you live far far away then this may be different for you. Look at where you live and how many apple stores are accessible around you. Call them with concerns I’m sure they cool about answering shipping questions

Same for me but I know it shipped because I went on ups website and tracked by reference number which is your order number minus the last 2 numbers!

Don't hold your breath. Apple has contracts with the shippers, which specify deliveries on Launch Day, which is Friday, the 20th.
Go to UPS.com. Click on Tracking, then UPS My Choice. It will show pending deliveries/tracking #'s
Shipping times don’t mean much with pre-ordered devices. Release day is 9/20 so you’ll get it on 9/20 no matter what shipping speed was provided.
Lucky! I’m in the Bay Area, ordered on preorder day and I’m still stuck in processing (ETA 10/7-10/14 *eyeroll* lol). From what I’ve read, you’ll likely receive shipping info tmrw (Thursday) and it’ll be overnighted to you (arriving Friday).
Same here mines says the samething since saturday i spoke to an apple rep yesterday and she told me everyone who order the phone thru the apple site will get the tracking starting at 11pm thursday night or 6am friday morning.
If you're in the US and you have a UPS My Choice Account, you can see the tracking information. If you don't, just wait and Apple will send you a tracking notification in an email. If your phone is coming Friday, trust me, it's moving normally. Apple just doesn't send out the tracking emails until it's with a regional or local carrier.

All shipments for iPhones 16 pro or pro max have been delayed.
Iphone pro will ship October 3-8, IPhone pro Max on October 8 - October 15.

UPS has been in possession of most preorders that are scheduled for launch day since Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
Will I receive my iPhone 16 Pro before the launch date on the 20th, if I pre-ordered it?
