What is "open TV" within the Apple TV+ site

I am logged into the Apple TV+ site on my iMac.

Clicking on the "open TV" takes me to an app window that says it is Apple TV Ver.: 1.4.6.32. The left hand side appears like a Finder window and has an entry for Apple TV+ but that does not show the programmes I am currently watching.

In that window there is a box-out that says my new iPhone includes 3 free months of Apple TV+ but I am already a subscriber and arrived at the page from a logged in web page!

Should I just ignore the "open TV" link and stay on the web access to Apple TV+ or is there additional content on the app?

This seems to be a closed loop where half of it does not believe I am logged in!

There is a native Apple TV app, which is preinstalled on Mac.

The left hand side contains the different tabs for navigation, Apple TV Plus will show specific content available for that service (close to the top it should show 'up next on Apple TV+ and will show your current queue of programs that are in progress). The Home tab will have a main queue (that can house content from other Apple TV channels if applicable) along with other services and titles to discover. There is also access to the store, to buy and rent titles, as well as access to the MLS service and any past purchases via the library section.

The website is specifically for Apple TV + whereas the app contains the other content as well.
