Is it Safe to Update iPhone 13 Pro Max to iOS 18?

I propose to anyone with iPhone 13, to wait quite a while before he downloads IOS 18 or 18.1. I did a mistake, and did download it, and immediately had issues. Many calls in, go straight to some unknown answering machine. quite a few function do not work, the screen get stuck quite frequently . After taking my sim card to a spare iPhone for a few days, I received a msg from apple that iOS 18.0.1 would add the necessary patches to repair the faulty functions. I made another mistake, downloaded iOS 18.0.1, almost nothing changed. So wait until all bugs are well solved

iPhone 13 Pro Max- Don’t update. Horrible experience. Lost most all my notes; all the most recent; in photos I lost the favorites album, texts have juvenile emojis, book text skip lines. It is absolutely awful. In google searches the phone will not hold the page. No wonder people are dumping the stock if this is any indication of the company direction. I lost sound off headphones and certain apps. This is beyond bad and smacks of corporate irresponsibility or worse; an adhesion sabotage requiring the buying of a new phone or more product.

iOS 18 just became available for download yesterday. If you want to see whether people are experiencing issues, you really need to wait a few days, and then look for reports here and on Mac news sites.

As to whether to install iOS 18 now, that's up to you. Note that you can update from iOS 17 to iOS 18 but that once you do, it will not be possible to go back to iOS 17.

I have the same phone and updated last night. I am the only one in our house and on our plan that did and my phone is legit having issues while they are not. iMessage issues, pages and apps won’t load, etc. I have done the hard reset and turned it off and on. It’s acting like something isn’t “connecting” quite right. 10/10 would not recommend.

I’ve had iPhones 4 thru 15. I have learned over the many years to wait 2-3 weeks and frequently use a search engine to ask, “Are there issues with IOS xxx.” Most reputable major news outlets are good at letting the public know. Forbes has always been a great source.

If you listen to the peanut gallery here you will never update anything again. These forums can be compared to a hospital in that only sick people come here with issues. Almost no one comes here to say everything is peachy keen and how much they love their devices. If you visited a town and went to the local hospital, found only sick people there, would you then assume that the entire town is sick.

As for the iPhone 13 there are no reports anywhere from established pundits, reviewers, tech experts, etc. that there are special problems with the iPhone 13 line and iOS 18. Whenever a new version is released, social media like Reddit fill up with complaints with just about every issue possible. A fews day later the complaints disappear as users find out their issue was due to user error, misunderstanding, or resolved by a simple restart of their device.

I use an iPhone 13 and installed iOS 18 the same day it was released. It’s now on iOS 18.0.1 and still running fine.

I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max and updated to iOS 18 5 days ago. Since then, I can only get calls via WiFi calling. My signal keeps dropping to E or SOS. I was advised there is no fix by T-Mobile and Apple Care. Im waiting on my carrier to let me know if they are willing to replace my phone. I do not recommend updating.

Being as an professional IOS Developer I would like to recommend all iPhones users especially 12 to 14 series just wait until new ios version spread and will gets the positive feedback from so, until just keeping your current ios version and updated the security patches ie 17.7

IO S 18 is the worst update I ever used In iPhone and I am trying to delete the version but which cannot be done. It’s a kind request to change over because iOS 18 is worst ever if we go to gallery, there is no favourite options and text is to smaller which is irritating yes Which we again go to display and change the normal font size people who use camera a lot gallery is the worst options which is bad really pathetic to use worst ever which I am not able to send in review and if someone reads this, please take into consideration iOS 18 update is the worst update ever I found because people who use phone for whole day like me who is a business means it is very tough to use which is not user friendly. This is not for any people. Who always use Fort which is not user-friendly I know it takes time to adjust but seriously. It’s the worst ever update because I have been using iPhone from almost 10 years for now first time felt irritated. Just felt like throwing the phone because of this update I again say it’s the worst update.

I’m on 17.7 on 13pm and it’s butter smooth and battery life is awesome. Just upgrade to 17.7 and that’s way better than 16.X in every aspect. And not recommending updating to 18 unless you actually need those features. Staying in 17.7 until 18.2 or .3 is released would be a safer option.

Yes, I'm typing this now on my iPhone 13 Pro Max (256GB) after upgrading yesterday to iOS 18, and everything is fine.

If you do decide to wait a while before upgrading to iOS 18 then I would still strongly suggest you install the latest security-fix version iOS 17.7 without waiting.

No , my friend please don't try to switch yourself on ios 18 in 13, 14 or even 12 series otherwise you'll affect with lots of trouble. I'm also having 13 pro max since it was launched but I'll also keeps 17 not 18 because it's new version and still not properly functional in older versions
