Where did the Camera Roll go in iOS 18

I do NOT like what Apple did to the Photos in iOS 18... I can not find the Camera Roll. Closest is Recent Days, but it does not show all the pictures that were on the Camera Roll. I have to use a third party app on my PC to see the photos. I think Apple screwed up somewhere. Come on Apple, put Camera Roll back the way it used to be and the way it should be.

Your library is the camera roll. What was called "Camera Roll" was changed to "Recents" in a past iOS update (forget which one) and has now dropped that name and is just your Library.

Any picture you take will be in your library, and as such that is your camera roll.

I don't believe there has ever been a separate Camera Roll to the general library. It was just called "Camera Roll" but contained the same things Library does now.

Do you have Background App Refresh turned off? That might be one reason it isn’t making progress. Also, do you leave the phone plugged in overnight, or at least for long periods of time?

Yeah... mine was turned off... I just turned it on and I'll see what happens and yes, I plug it in every night... I just went through the list of apps in Background App Refresh and Photos is not listed in there

The overall update is amazing, however this picture, album, favorites, movie chaos is the worst move I've seen apple do in an upgrade. I literally can't even find a video that was taken last night. Everything is scrambled and is a serious pain to deal with. With hundreds of thousands spent on apple products, I've never had an issue and love the company but being a long time apple person, its rare to see such a drastic bad move on something so functional, efficient for user ability. Bring it back Apple!

Well said. Now please tell Apple via: Feedback - Photos - Apple

Incorrect.

for those of us that sync photos they’ve removed camera roll/recents and it causes a huge issue for managing photos…

That is not a bug. That was a feature change. The feedback link is good for letting Apple know what you think about that as well.

Camera app, your library is right there it didn't go anywhere, do some exploring and you'll find it.

I did all last evening and this morning and, like I said, all I could see is Recent Days and it does not show all the photos that should be there. I have 6 photos in the Camera Roll in the third party app and Recent Days only shows (Yesterday) 4 photos. Where are the other 2 photos. I have all the Customize options on. If I want to send someone a photo from a week ago (the missing ones) I can't as I can't find it. The other options in Recent Days are from about 6 months ago and older and I am not going through over 6500 photos to try and find the 2 missing ones.

I need this back ASAP. The way I use photos is completely broken now. I need a place to see all photos that are on my iphone and have not yet been transferred off my device.

*** EVERYONE Request it to come back ... ***

I have provided Apple with feedback about how I think the changes to Photos are, so far, some of the things I like best about iOS 18. Photos is gorgeous and so much more flexible.
