Contacts disappeared after IOS 18 update.

I just went to mail in the settings and made sure I was signed into all of my email accounts. I also made sure that the toggle for “Contacts” under each account was on.

Your contacts and appointments are likely tied to one of your email accounts. Are your email accounts installed on your device and up to date?

I was able to log in to iCloud from my laptop and all my contacts were still there. I created an iCloud mail account on my iphone and then resynced my accounts and they all came back! Lesson is that you can't trust a single hyperscaler to keep your information safe and available. I will determine how to use Apple plus Microsoft and/or Google to manage and protect my family data.

What type of device are you using when looking up your account? Maybe try changing devices or resetting phone.

You might have accidentally turned off contacts in the icloud.

Same and majorly frustrated with apple engineers!!! I’ve already spent 5 hours with ‘senior’ support only to find out they can’t help me. I’ve been backing up daily to iCloud for 2 years and there are only 10 backups to restore from? Wtf is that? I pay for 2TB of Icloud and am only using less than 500GB. I was able to recover some but not all from a backup a week before I updated. To make matters worse, when I use siri to place a call to a contact, it brings up the correct contact information but connects me to an entirety different contact. Talk about road rage when you're hands free doing 70 on the highway! At some point I was asked to RESET MY IPHONE and recover from backuo only to find out I had lost every account on MS Authenticator. GRrrrrrr! I'm on a 14 pro and it's now sluggish as h3ll with crashing apps. What a huge disappointment 😩 Senior support person let me know they don't even use contacts and prefer the Google contact manager! Where did 2 years of backups go?

After updating to 18 I have contacts from 15 years ago, but not from the last year.... I spent an hour via chat and phone with apple support and I have no backups recorded before the IOS 18 update. Crazy since I've changed phones and never had these issues before! SOOO Frustrating

Upgraded to 18.2 last night. This morning noticed one person on whatsapp didnt show the name just the number. Lost contact indeed. This is inacceptable i canceled my order for iPhone 16 Pro, will get a Samsung instead.

After the recent iOS update to v18.3.1 majority of my contacts are gone ! Some were in contact via Whatsapp so i was able to re-saved them but many are missing ! WTH.. this never before... Please help or guide to retrive them...

For many users they dnt use iCloud as its full and all the contact were locally on Phone ! Seems like aftr the update it restore the contact from cloud and rest are gone in thin air ! Im small business owner and this so frustating and I see no solution so far.

the phone number is stored but no name.

if I start a text the name comes up but not a good solution

not having the name displayed is unacceptable for sure, takes so much extra time.

hopefully this can be resolved without losing the recent text history.

I restored a backup from BEFORE the update and it didn’t solve it.

I must’ve had 300+ contact names disappear, but the text thread is intact with the person’s name. This is quite odd and I’m totally surprised. Apple isn’t doing anything to assist us.

Like others- yesterday I had some 400+ contacts. Now I have 76. I found several “list's “ of contacts. The one called ALL appears to have approximately the right number. Two others had 63& 76. One called outlook had another number. How do I make the phone stay on the most complete list? And why are there even different lists? I sure didn’t mean to set any up.
