How to Remove Apple TV Remote from Lock Screen on iOS 18?

Here is the solution:

Navigate to Settings, then...

General > Airplay & Continuity > Automatically AirPlay > Never

after I did this it fixed it for me following 6 other failed attempts from other fixes.

Found the solution to be on the apple tv. Go to settings on the tv, remotes and devices, remote app and devices, locate your phone on screen and remove it. The lock screen issue should be resolved.

Here is the solution:

Navigate to Settings, then...

General > Airplay & Continuity > Automatically AirPlay > Never

Try General, AirPlay and Continuity, Automatically AirPlay, Never

I can’t take credit for this, but found this on Reddit and is the only thing I’ve seen that fixes this…

On lock screen tap on Apple TV logo on right side, then scroll to bottom of list and tap on Control other speakers devices, then tap on iPhone at the top. This will remove the prompt for the Apple TV and disappear if you do not have any media playing on your iPhone.

I may have just found a solution... This worked on my device (iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18.0.1...)

After reading through this knowledge base I decided to try a manual restart on my phone in case it was a software glitch, and the Apple Remote left my Lock Screen upon restart.

Press and release: Volume Up, Volume Down; Press and Hold the Lock button until the device powers down.

Like I said, upon restart my Lock Screen was fixed. I hope this helps!

basically go to control center, source, other speakership, and tap iPhone. That removes it from my island.

I was already NEVER, and it was still doing it. I had to restart my iPhone and it worked. *foreheadslap*

On the Lock Screen touch and hold on the screen to bring up the Customize option. Tap on the Lock Screen from the 2 cards you see, and then tap on the (-) sign next to the Apple Remote icon.

You can leave the icon blank, or touch it again to add a different icon there.

Having the same issue. Restarting the phone seems to help clear the remote for me. At least temporarily.

VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, HOLD LOCK BUTTON UNTIL PHONE RESETS DO NOT LET GO!!! Hard restart fixes it

Go to settings on your Apple TV itself not on your phone, go to remotes and devices and remove your iPhone from the list.

A long shot: do you have the a "launcher" app on your iPhone? If so, that's probably a shortcut set up in that app and is where you need to turn that off.
