The apple tv remote keeps coming up on my lock screen and I don't really use my phone to control my apple tv. Is there any way to get rid of it automatically popping up? I even tried to forget device via my Apple TV but still did not work.

Here is the solution:
Navigate to Settings, then...
General > Airplay & Continuity > Automatically AirPlay > Never
after I did this it fixed it for me following 6 other failed attempts from other fixes.
I think I figured it out. You need to forget the device (iPhone) from the Apple TV. On the Apple TV, go to settings, remotes, select the iPhone and “forget” it.
On Apple TV settings - remotes and devices, remote app and devices forget iPhone. Restart your iPhone. You can add the phone to Apple tv by pairing again. Solved.
I tired every suggestion in here and nothing works. But it looks like turning off your iPhone bluetooth actually works
One small note for this thread: If I turn on low power mode on my iPhone, this goes away. Turn low power mode off, immediately comes back. But... 🤷♂️
All I did was kill the app and restart the phone. It worked
I went to settings on Apple TV. Under devices I removed my iPhone. That worked
Yes, I have. I went to the Apple TV and I went to airplay and I removed Living Room from my AirPlay thing and then I turned off AirPlay on Apple TV.
Turning the phone off and on again helped me.
To disable live activities on an iPhone, you can do the following:
From Apple TV on your television
settings,AirPlay and HomeKit,require password for AirPlay.

Not really a fix but you can unlock your phone, open the remote and then kill it. It will disappear until you use the remote again. It won’t show up as a running app after you unlock until you open it.
There should be a way to keep it off the lock screen altogether.
Go to lock screen, swipe down from upper right corner to bring down the control center. Touch the plus in the upper left corner, find your Apple TV remote and delete it with the minus. This worked for me.
I think I finally got it figured out. Settings > Apps > Remote > Siri > turn off everything
Settings > Notifications > Apple TV Keyboard > Off
Disabling airplay in the appletv(console) settings worked for me.
