The orange represents that you were using a slow charger to charge your iPhone, if that is what you’re asking.
It won’t do any harm to use a slow charger, and some people think it’s better for the battery. To fast charge you need a 20 Watt or higher USB-C/PD power source directly connected, or a Mag Safe charger plugged into a 30 watt or higher power source.

The orange part of the graph indicates your phone was charging via a "slow" charger.

So what does this mean?

It’s the slow charging indicator. True Tone and other settings might change the appearance.,
Since there is a charging symbol of the same color, the picture would logically indicate that the charger was plugged in to the phone during this time.
Then you should try using a higher Watt charger.

If like me you are using the charger you have, it is within spec and working there is no reason you have to get a higher watt charger.
Correct.
Li Ion (Lithium Ion) batteries have recharging capabilities; however there are limits.
I recommend to slow charge your iPhone to maximize the charge capacity.
NOTE:
Capacity loss in standby applications is largely determined by temperature.
Charge above -30°C and discharge below 55°C for best results.
Slow charging does not hurt your phone. It's not as quick, and may not be optimal for a number of reasons, but if it works for you then keep using it.
Slow charging is very good for maximizing battery health and efficiency. ⚡️🔋
Good luck! 👋🏼😉
Read a little about how electricity works. Learn what watts, volts and amps are. Learn a little about resistance and learn about how devices draw current. Things start to make sense. It’s all good. 😀😀

It looks red to me. Not orange.
The color it appears to be will depend on the settings of your phone and the wallpaper color. It's the microphone indicator.
My apologies. I thought I was responding to a different thread.....

Thank you Jeff!
Thank you! I was already thinking it would be that but it seems to be new to iOS 18 since i‘ve always used a 15W charger for this phone for the past few months.
..... it seems to be new to iOS 18......
You are correct.
Hi! It happens the same on my iPhone 13 when i use a magsafe charger with a 20w adapter. Its normal? I’m on iOS 18 too (Sorry my english 😖)
That seems silly, according to iPhone 15 Pro - Technical Specifications - Apple Support
All non 16 iPhone models only support 15w magsafe charging, there is no way to go higher on MagSafe chargers.
Before the iOS 18 update the phone was charging fine. Now it takes about 9 hours to fully charge!
