iOS 18 Disable Video Looping in Photos App?

Just talked to apple support and currently in 18 you can't disable it, but he suggested I leave a comment here to have them change it back in future versions.

Maybe if we all do that, something might get done in the next version.

Cgumm79 ~ Thanks for the information, but consider simply updating your iPhone 14 to iOS 18.2 — which has been available since December 11 and includes "a setting to turn off auto-looping video playback":

It appears to be an intentional feature, not a bug. And trying to speak for everyone is very rarely productive.

If enough people submit feedback through the proper channel (i.e. NOT the forum), perhaps Apple will reconsider some of the changes.

However, you can update to iOS 18.2.1, which adds an option to toggle it on or off.

Everyone, manually update to iOS 18.2, apps, photos, and you can now toggle off video loop. I don’t know why I wasn’t prompted to update or why it didn’t automatically (per my setting). The prompt used to be very visible. Anyway I think it’s settings/top choice Apple account/General/software update and it’s there. We did it. Closure. cheers…!

Hello~ It has been “fixed” with the release of iOS 18.2. Please review the last several pages of this thread as the fix has been posted many times. Downgrading iOS is not supported and should you have another issue with your device please start a thread about it so we may assist you. Take care.

iPhone 14 running iOS 18.1.1 does not give any option to disable video looping. I dislike, hate, despise all of the recent photos updates. Ruined my flow and ease of editing photos to add colored text. Hard to remember that text is now under the filters icon when a pencil icon would be easy enough to display. I DO NOT LIKE having all my pics LARGELY displayed while scrolling down to my folders that were easy to find BEFORE iOS 18. Just need the security updates and NOT screwing up my ease of use.

I had the same problem and I’m very frustrated with this feature. I to also show videos to people a lot and it’s important that the video stops at the end and not loop. I did find a way around this but however it is just another step. I found if you share it to files and play it through there it won’t loop. Hope this helps and I’m praying they get this fixed.

You got my hopes up. I’m in iOS 18.1.1 and no such option. There’s “auto play motion” which I turned off, but didn’t stop video looping. I turned back on as may relate to those photos showing motion. Looks like they did have an off switch that disappeared on the update…. Thx though

IOS 18 latest update, there is not a means to turn it off as described by the other post.

This does not work - there is no setting (in IOS 18 1.1 (which I have just installed) which turns off Looping Videos
