iOS 18 Disable Video Looping in Photos App?

a simple fix for the time being to get around video looping is to copy your video in photos and paste it into Notes, No more looping!

Drosendale, the loop on/off switch was added in iOS 18.2. Have you updated to 18.2?

Hello~ You are addressing your fellow forum members and not Apple. We can’t “turn off” anything. Would that we could. It’s been suggested over and over to log your feedback with Apple but I guess no one wants to actually read this thread…

So, before the latest update I used videos daily and the video never looped. Now the video defaults to looping with no way to turn it off, which is annoying to say the least. One thing to add the option to loop but why take away the way it worked before when Most users would probably Not want to default to looping. Who's making these decisions? Then to not be able to turn it off turns something that was working fine and makes it worse. I guess in some cases some people would want to loop a video they are watching by default but for everyone else it's just an added annoyance that I can't shut off. Please Fix this. Thanks.

I requested this auto looping be disabled or provide an option for the user to turn it off. If you are annoyed also please make a request here directly to Apple. Feedback - Photos - Apple

I also found that if send a video to “Notes” I can play it there with no looping.

You can also stop it from looping by tapping the Pause button on the video.

I agree it a very odd ‘feature’ that clearly should not be default but switchable.
