Given that it seems to be affecting only a small percentage of iPhone users, it's going to be hard for anyone to determine the cause. The best you can do is follow standard troubleshooting procedures and let Apple know what you're seeing.

it’s all Meta apps. Instagram, Facebook, Messenger. My phone has been doing this for going on 2 weeks now. You would think they would’ve fixed it by now. Bittersweet to see I’m not alone in this frustrating battle.

I get the result in 14 pro max . The spinning wheel rarely happens in ios17. I think it is due to the game mode introduced or the iOS 18 not fine tune for iPhone with less Ram. Hope Apple allowed to setting less resources for game mode. The spinning wheel happens when switch from personal to outdoor mode. even open default photos app causes crash. I get 20GB FREE space for the operation. The crash mostly from the game mode or poor ram allocation I think

After install 18.01 and soft reset the iPhone do some help but sometimes the spinning wheel still happen

Same, ever since iOS 18. Not only FB, also Shazam, ChatGPT and others. Tracking is off. Turning it on had no effect.

Same here. Facebook closes as soon as it pops up, I have to open it about 4 times in a row then it will finally open. Insta force closes every time I open it. Haven’t been able to use it for around 3 days now

Ive had this happen with essentially ever app on my phone since yesterday. Most consistently, facebook, instagram, tiktok. New apps won’t even open. Tried reinstalling, resetting, and everything but factory reset.

I am having the same issue. I have deleted and reinstalled the apps, reset my phone, erased all content and settings, reinstalled everything and apps are still crashing. It is not limited to "Meta" apps either. Also, my phone says that it is up to date with iOS 18 but still offers the option to install iOS 18. iPhone 15 Pro

I have factory reset my phone and Facebook insta and Facebook messenger all crash upon opening. Messenger will allow me to get through all the sign in steps but once those are done it will close. Crazy this has gone on for this long and there’s no solution. I thought it was Meta problem but I see ppl have the same issue with non-meta apps…

that’s the exactly the same for me! i have to open instagram 4 times for it to actually work and as soon as i hit marketplace on facebook it crashes instantly. has been happening for a few days now i don’t know what to do.

Omg i thought i was the only one. Its my meta apps that are doing it. Facebook, messenger and instagram. If i try and go to my settings on Instagram it crashes out and i have to keep reopening instagram like 5/6 times to get it open.

Same here for the Meta apps noted, but also things like DeepL, the Chat GPT app and a number of others! It’s ridiculous!! I have loads of storage space, up to date on firmware, no weird settings
