Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

Ever since the update, My music has beeen lagging. It’ll play the next song but then still have the title, album picture, and ending of the previous song. I am unable to add songs to my playlists for some reason. I search for a song in my playlist and instead of playing the song and continuing with my playlist, it plays the song and then plays random music outside of my playlist. Idk what this update has done. but i’m going to need them to fix this cause this is irritating me!!!!

It’s ridiculous how they introduced the update weeks ago, and with all these complaints they still haven’t fixed these issues.

My Apple Music stutters NONSTOP for literally everything since that update… crashes repeatedly… I tap on buttons and they don’t respond; a song stops midway; most of the time I have to close the app and when I open it again the last song I was trying to listen, is not there anymore; the screen crashes when you try to skip a song; the response time when you tap on play or back or forward is also incredibly slow…

It’s really frustrating how poor app is performing, leave alone all the other glitches we now have on our phones (prior to iPhone 16) due to the update (literally designed to slow our phone so we can spend more on upgrading to the latest model)… I have an iPhone 14pro btw.

So disappointed in Apple. The worst thing is, we all know they really don’t care and won’t do absolutely anything about anything.

adding to the above:

the artwork on the island is greyed out in one of the many glitches, and when you try to play or skip the song on the island, it doesn’t respond after you tap on the buttons… when this happens, I open the app and it shows a song I selected when I had the app open (I’ve listed to like 4-6 songs by now, and not that one), so I have to tap on the forward button until I get back to the song I was last listening to. Sometimes this doesn’t even work ‘cause the whole app froze and I have to close it and open it up again (and lose the last song I was playing). Really frustrating.

Also, when the

I have been having the same issues. Especially when listening with AirPods Pro’s 2nd(USBC). My music plays, the quality is good but then as you get to the best part of the song it will either skip the song or it will pause and when I manually open music I see it paused because the app crashed. I at first thought it was maybe the force sensor on the AirPods that was faulty but then I gave it some thought. If it was the force sensor shouldn’t the same or similar issue occur when watching YouTube, Netflix… or even while listening to podcast? Right? It’s definitely not the force sensor that’s faulty

It's a level of software degradation that I didn't know was possible in a music-streaming product. Editing and Sorting playlists is broken and often will not sync across devices; adding songs to playlists or favoriting an album or song can take up to 10 seconds. My phone also heats up specifically when using the app and no other apps. Not sure what is going on under the hood here, but I'm on a 16 Pro, and it's the worst-performing app I've ever had on an iPhone from Apple. I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed that it has neither been fixed nor acknowledged.

I can't click (either with fingers or apple pen) on any new search if the band/song I am looking for hasn't been searched in the past (tried with some random and known band I never listened to). I can accurately reproduce this and 9/10 times it's an issue (tired with some big band names that never listened to but this seems to work)

Feels like a cache/database problem

This is a little late, but ever since the ios 18 update, my music libraries on my iphone and ipad pro have been totally screwed up. Almost every song was duplicated. If this wasn't bad enough, it removed a bunch of songs from the albums. However, the main library on the Mac M1 is fine.

I have resynced my iphone and ipad pro to my Mac and it has only made it worse. Now I have duplicate songs again and it has separated songs out of albums and made numerous albums that all of the songs for, should be under one album.

Keep in mind, I have about 1300 albums on my iMac. I have been trying to fix this for weeks. I do not subscribe to Apple Music, but I do have the Apple Music Sharing subscription or whatever it is that adds everything automatically to each device. No matter what settings I apply under Finder or in sync settings in itunes will remedy this.

The last thing that I want to do is delete my entire library on my Mac and reburn every CD individually. This isn't the first time this has happened. Some years ago under ios 14 or so the same thing happened.

Apple is turning into Win(blows).

Since the upgrade my playlists keep repeating songs when connected to the car by cable. So it will play 5 songs then revert back to the start and play the 5 all over again. Even if I shuffle the songs it still does the same.

It won’t let me knock off the repeat button but when I play via Bluetooth there are no problems. I’ve done all the usual stuff even bought a new cable but no change. Spoke with apple support and all I got was “this is very strange”. It is very annoying and would like try getting it fixed

I have been having exactly the same problem since the update to IOS 18. I have a very large (main) playlist and editing this playlist, adding music to it or playing music from it causes the app to crash all the time. It also warms up my phone significantly and drains the battery exceptionally fast… I have been hoping for improvements with each IOS update, but I get the feeling Apple doesn’t have it on their radar at all! Sincerely hope this gets fixed urgently!
