iPhone 16 Pro doesn't connect to iMac via USB-C

So, iPhone 16 Pro when connected to iMac with provided USB-C cable is not charging and not recognised by Mac.

  • Cable is good (works with other phone)
  • Mac port is good (works with other phone)
  • iPhone port is good (everything works, charges and connects with usb-c to usb-a cable connected to usb-a port on the Mac)

What now??

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

Hello, good news for everybody !!

I just updated my new iPhone 16 Pro Max to iso 18.1 then I updated my iMac Late 2017 21,5 4K 3 GHz Intel Core i5 quad-core to the last version od MacOs Ventura, build 13.7.1 (22H221)

Then the first time you connect the iPhone to the Mac using a Thunderbolt 4 cable (even if my iMac has only 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports), the system will recognize the iPhone, then the system will download an items to fully support the phone and DONE !! now it works good !! I made a backup of roughly 250 Gbytes in just 5 minutes !!!!

It seems that was a software issue now patched !!

enjoy !!

I was just informed by Apple that my IMAC will not connect to the new 16's.

Although my IMAC is only a few years old, it is not cabable of running Sequoia therefore the new IPHONE 16's will never connect with this computer!

So you upgrade the IPHONE, and now have to by a new IMAC to make things compatible.

NOT HAPPY!!!
