Bizarre Issue with Spoken content and Siri

I’ve posted this issue a while ago but I want to follow up.

I’ve been dealing with this terrible issue with my iPhone 11 for years, and I couldn’t find any solution at all.

Whenever I turn on battery low consumption mode and I want to use Spoken content, the Siri neural voice sounds of a very bad quality, too muffled and distorted, as if it was recorded from a very old microphone. Sometimes it happens randomly, even if the battery saver mode is turned off.

I’ve restored my iPhone via DFU 3 times with a backup using iTunes, but the issue remains.

I’m a person with visual disabilities and I rely a lot on these features, so this shouldn’t even be an issue, my iPhone 13 doesn’t seem to have this bug, unless it gets very hod to hold, EG, while charging.

I’ve talked to Tech support numerous times, but they’re unwilling to help me with this annoyance, and it seems to me that the development team either doesn’t acknowledge that this issue still exists, since iOS 15, if I’m not mistaken, or they just don’t care about fixing it, which is pretty frustrating.

Is anybody else facing this issue? Is there a fix apart from rebooting and factory reset?

Thanks in advance

Low Power Mode is going to affect a lot of things, especially background processes.

Apple is always going to focus their attention on the issues that the most people have or ones that could lead to safety issues. Unfortunately, you apparently have a very rare issue.

The only thing I can suggest at this point is don't use Low Power Mode. Also, what is your battery health link on your iPhone 11? Settings>Battery>Battery Health. If it's less than 80%, you need a new battery. That can also cause issues.

Given the margin for error in Settings>Battery>Battery Health, I'd contact Apple and arrange for them to run diagnostics. Apple replaced my battery at about 82% because it was causing other issues as well.

Update 2:

Ok folks. Yesterday, I contacted an Apple advisor who forced me to update to iOS 18. It messed up things completely, now it turns out that I can’t use the Siri neural engine voices for Spoken content anymore. In stead, it downloads the robotic version of the Siri voice, and I can only use the neural engine voices for Siri, Safari listen to Page feature, and maps voice guidance. However, I’m still having this problem with Siri.

Did Apple removed the possibility of using neural engine voices for spoken content? Is it just me?

My iPhone 13 still has iOS 17.6.1 and I can use the Siri neural voice for Spoken content without hustle.

Thanks for all of your help, though

I don’t understand then why my iPhone 11 downloads the robotic Siri voice for Spoken Content and uses the neural one just for Siri, Safari Listen to page and maps detailed voice guidance, at least in Spanish Mexico, in English US the neural voice works for spoken content, and when I had iOS 17 the Siri neural voice in Spanish Mexico worked with Spoken content, speak screen and speak selection as well, but not anymore

The battery health is at 81% but it doesn’t show a message about replacing it, and this bug happens to mi since I updated to iOS 15, 2 years ago.

Like I said earlier, Sometimes it happens randomly, even if the battery saver mode is turned off, it doesn’t matter if it’s at 80%, 70%, 20%, it just happens randomly. Sometimes the voice is even choppy.

I have an iPhone 13 and an iPad Pro 11in 4th gen that do not have this issue, the Siri voice sounds excellent no matter if Battery low consumption mode is on or off.

No help at all from Tech support, they don’t call me back to follow up, or say that this is expected behavior, when it clearly isn’t

I don’t know what can I do to remedy this situation, since factory reset didn’t work for me.

3 weeks and still no resollution from Support. Is it a joke?

What led you to believe that 1) the folks in Support could fix anything and 2) that there was a specific timeline? What exactly did Support tell you when you spoke to them? You didn't indicate in your previous post that they had promised to call you back. And the folks in Support have no control over software releases.
