Apple Watch Locked to Owner - I am the owner

I'm trying to pair my apple watch but it is "Locked to Owner" (which is me) unfortunately I do not remember the Apple Account Password I used at the time of setup. I bought the watch second-hand and went through this process once before so it lists my email as the owner account. It will not accept my current apple password - only the one I used when setting it up the first time.

What can I do?

Sorry, then, but there may be nothing to be done. Without proof of ownership, Apple can do nothing to help with this issue. You can try these steps:

  1. Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. From the Quick Access Menu in the top right, select Find My. You might be required to sign in.
  3. Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch if it appears.
  4. Click Erase Apple Watch. Select Next until the device is erased.
  5. Click the Remove button next to your Apple Watch.

If that's successful, you should then be able to pair your Watch to your iPhone and set it up again.

If your Watch doesn't appear in iCloud, then I'm afraid that it's no longer usable.

Good luck.

It does have to be the account used at set up, but the password just needs to be the current password for the account. It is not the password that was used to set it up. It may be the case that the account that it is locked to is not actually yours as usually you are only given a portion of the account email address. If that is the case, then there is nothing you can do. The only way to remove the Activation Lock for a different account is by proving you purchased the device from Apple or Authorized Apple seller with the original purchase receipt.
