iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Unresponsive

Is anyone else noticing their iPhone 16 pro max being unresponsive sometimes when touching the screen, typing, swiping.

Im not even using a screen protector and it’s like it. Makes things seem really laggy sometimes.

Did not expect it on a brand new iPhone.

After iOS 18.0.1 did not fully fix the problem that I had with my laggy screen, I ended up making an appointment with a Genius at an Apple Store the day before yesterday, and they did a bunch of hardware diagnostics. My phone failed the Touch Screen Responsiveness Test, so they swapped out my iPhone 16 Pro Max with a new one. I immediately noticed the huge change in responsiveness with the new phone, and it has been absolutely perfect ever since. This has solved my problem completely, and I no longer have any issues with my iPhone whatsoever. It’s awesome now.

(iPhone 16 Pro Max, Desert Titanium, 256GB)

So I went by an Apple Store finally. Got my phone diagnosed as well as had it gone over by one of the Apple Genius’ there. The only thing they recommended me to do for the device is to completely factory reset and start my device fresh by not restoring my backup. They say it may have been an issue with my iPhone 13 Pro Max just hidden in the background.

So I did the reset, and nothing. It did nothing. Now I’m still struggling with the same screen issues and ontop of it I’m locked out of Microsoft Authenticator for my work.

Apple. Come on. This is getting crazy.

You have 14 days after purchase to return it for any reason for a full refund if it really makes you unhappy, which it seems like it does.

Since you seem to not want to work with Apple Support, that's pretty much your best solution.

As mentioned previously, I've seen none of the issues you describe, nor have I on any demo phones, nor have any of the hundreds of users I deal with on a regular basis.

I have been working with Apple support and found an analyst who has taken the seriously and has forwarded logs to engineering. For me third-party apps is where it's the worst i.e. solitaire game for example.

They are asking for videos of the behavior, which I have been able to provide for a third-party app like Solitaire, but having trouble capturing on Apple apps, which is what they're looking for like messages or mail.

If anyone can easily replicate the behavior and take a video with another phone, it would be real helpful and I don't know how we could get it to me so I could upload it to engineering, but it's worth a try.

Because I mostly use WhatsApp.
I heard from colleagues that they experienced a similar issue on Facebook and Messenger.

And what do all three have in common? They are all apps from Meta. And they have notoriously had issues for a long time. But Apple doesn't own Meta, so Apple can't fix their apps. Meta has to fix their apps. You should definitely complain to Meta.

Yes, I got on the 18.3.1 and the issue still persists, I get what it’s doing, if it is doing anything with connecting to the internet and it’s struggling (which I do t understand why it even would have this issue, perfect wifi an at home working remotely, no issues other than my phone on both wifi and cell) and it will completely lock up and lock the screen.. then all the commands I was doing come flooding in… so like 5 seconds of locking up then 500 gestures and commands and what have you as I trying to in freeze it….
