iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Unresponsive

I am still experiencing touch screen unresponsiveness issues on my 16 pro max (ios18.1). I have an iPhone 13 and I can definitely tell a huge difference. My iPhone 13 responds to every touch input but with my 16 pro max some of my taps are not recognized.

I am considering returning my iPhone 16 pro max and just buying another one in hopes of being one of the people without these touch screen unresponsiveness issues. If the issue still persists or isn't resolved via an update I will stick with my iPhone 13 and wait for the 17 lineup - seriously very frustrating!

More the number of feedbacks chances are sooner they will solve it.

Well, I had stated this earlier as well that my phone was tested for hardware issue but they didn’t find anything wrong with the screen but they did find the touch was not registering for each input when typing on the keypad but they could do nothing about it as there is no return policy in my country and they only replace for hardware faults. So that’s why I believe it’s a software problem.

Now tell me what should I do?

I have noticed the unresponsiveness of the screen on my 16 Pro Max after the IOS 18.1 update. There may not be a solid correlation but sometimes I have to tap the screen 5 or more times to open an app!!!

Try a different phone at your Apple dealer.

I personally deal with hundreds of iPhone 16 Pro Max users and none of them have had any issues with touch sensitivity except in certain apps, so it's definitely not software and if it's hardware, it's a quite uncommon hardware issue.

I’ve had the iPhone 16 pro max natural 256 for about 3 weeks now and I’ve noticed the same issue since day 1. I was hoping update 18.2.1 would fix this but I'm still experiencing this issue. It’s random and usually when touching the corners of the screen. It happens with and without a screen protector so I know it’s not that. Has anyone fixed this issue?

So they sent out a software update to address this issue and I will say it helped fix the problem for the most part BUT it does still occur here and there

Same. No screen protector yet either. Got a little anxious then saw your post. So it’s definitely not my doing. Tried restarting, it’s been 2 minutes and it’s fine so far. Let’s hope for the best

It’s not the apps, this also happens frequently on Messages. There’s 17 pages of users who also have this issue. It’s definitely pretty widespread.

Yes. Unable to pause, stop or mute video playback sometimes and have had to force close the photos app to stop video playback. Also, when Auto Play Motion is turned off the Mute button disappears during playback and there is no audio. The side buttons show volume increasing and decreasing but there is no audio.

I upgraded to 16pro max from 15pro max and noticed immediately how slow the screen was at responding to touch. Feels like you need to be more deliberate in your inputs for it to register.

I have a screen protector but as this is from a quality brand I can’t see that being the issue.

Hopefully a software issue rather than hardware.

My 16 pro just shut itself down and rebooted this afternoon and the screen has been completely unresponsive ever since. I've done a force restart and it made no difference. I cannot get into my phone at all. I'm just going to have to go to an Apple Store tomorrow I guess.

Same issue here from day 1 with my 16 Pro Max. It’s hard for me to even type messages anymore. Some letters are missed and sometimes it just keeps getting the wrong keys. I had a 15 Pro Max before with no issues, but now I’m using the 16 Pro Max and struggle to type messages. Apple, are you listening?! Do you hear us?

yes, but just a basic 16, only got it yesterday, no case as yet.

Using Sainsburys Smart Shop yesterday, screen was unresponsive for a a good 30 seconds, I thought it might be Sainsburys WiFi, but it’s happened a few times. I switched it off & on, didn’t help. Totally unacceptable, that’s why I switched to Apple, years ago. Literally never had this before, & my old phone was 5 years old.

I got the phone on the day of its launch in India. I too have been facing the same issues on my iPhone 16 pro. I upgraded from 14 plus. There are so many dead areas on screen where it takes a harder and more deliberate tap to register the touch.
