So I went by an Apple Store finally. Got my phone diagnosed as well as had it gone over by one of the Apple Genius’ there. I am still experiencing touch screen unresponsiveness issues on my 16 pro max (ios18.1). I have an iPhone 13 and I can definitely tell a huge difference. My iPhone 13 responds to every touch input but with my 16 pro max some of my taps are not recognized.

I am considering returning my iPhone 16 pro max and just buying another one in hopes of being one of the people without these touch screen unresponsiveness issues. If the issue still persists or isn't resolved via an update I will stick with my iPhone 13 and wait for the 17 lineup - seriously very frustrating!

Your video shows an issue with the Instagram app, not a problem with the phone.

Note that you are able to freely scroll and perform other operations so the phone is responding to touch properly, it's just the app isn't, and only Meta can fix that.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I even took off my screen protector to see if it still did it, and it did. It is so annoying! Sometimes, I have to tap on my screen four or five times for it to register.

Glad to see that it’s not just my iPhone lol. Hopefully Apple will be able to fix this with an update soon. 🤞🏼

This is more likely to be the Instagram app rather than iOS.

Hopefully they send you a brand new one and not a refurbished one. Carriers love to send out those refurbs for replacements.

I use speech to text ALOT and when I punch the mic button (hard) about 70% of the time it doesn’t start recording. It’s maddening.
